I don’t always have the time or money to eat gourmet meals, so I try to make the most out of what I have.

Typical french lunch:baguette, salad, fromage, cornichons
Food has always been a struggle for me, and it is an everyday challenge for me to find that balanced and healthy lifestyle. I have recently changed my ways, and am looking forward to a future of healthy eating and delicious treats.
Growing up I’ve always been interested in food a little more than my friends, and where most girls my age love to go clothes shopping, I LOVE to go grocery shopping. Don’t get me wrong, I can do some damage in a mall, but I have this fascination with health food stores, gourmet food stores, and grocery stores. I pretty much love any store that offers delicious, healthy, fresh, and gourmet foods. Right now I do most of my shopping at the regular grocery store, but pick up some specialty items from Whole Foods, and Roots Market. Roots is a local and independently owned market specializing in natural, organic, and gourmet foods and products. It’s a great store because it is less expensive than Whole Foods, and usually carries everything Whole Foods carries and more.
I also do some shopping online for hard to find, raw, organic foods, and my favorite sites for that are Ultimate Superfoods and Live Superfoods. And of course whenever I’m traveling, I love stopping in organic and health food stores just to check out the products.
If you have any other recommendations for great health food stores or gourmet stores in the MD/DC/VA please let me know. I love trying new places.
In case you are interested in some of the products I use, I created my own Amazon Store just for you. I have included my favorite cookbooks, kitchen appliances, and foods that I use on a day to day basis. I try to update it regularly with items that I simply can’t live with out. Check it out HERE.
In this blog I hope to show you how I make an everyday meal into a gourmet meal as well as show you that you can eat healthy food without sacrificing flavor. Along with my healthy lifestyle I hope to show you foods from all over the world. I love to describe the food I am eating, and hopefully you will enjoy my reviews. Be sure to check out my Reviews page where I include restaurant, food, and wine reviews.
I am not perfect, and I don’t eat healthy all the time. There is a lot of information out there on nutrition, but for me the key to being healthy, and HAPPY, is balance and moderation. I take food seriously, and I love to try everything!

**While I am on the food page-I wanted to give a shout out to Chef Patrice Olivon**

Patrice is my boyfriend’s step-father, and he is hands down one of the best chefs I know. My mouth waters for the next time I get to have dinner at their house. He has been on Iron Chef America, Emeril Green, and has participated in numerous Food & Wine Festivals around the country. I was able to see his cooking demonstration at the International Food & Wine Festival in DC as well as the St. Michael’s Food & Wine Festival.

He is so talented, and I will make sure you get to see more of him on my blog. Be sure to check him out on facebook too!
